About the Presenters

Sara Fish is a Litigation associate​ in the Atlanta office of Fish & Richardson. Her practice focuses on patent litigation, including actions filed in various federal district courts, including experience in the Eastern District of Texas, Northern District of California, and the District of Delaware. Ms. Fish has also worked on patent matters before the International Trade Commission and assisted with patent post-grant matters, such as inter partes reviews. She also has experience assisting clients, often her pro-bono clients, before superior and state courts. Ms. Fish assists clients with all aspects of patent litigation ranging from complaint filing or answering through discovery, claim construction, infringement and invalidity contentions, expert discovery, and trial. Recently, Ms. Fish was the primary associate on a successful trial team defending her client from patent infringement allegations in the first patent trial in the Middle District of Georgia in the last 15 years. Ms. Fish’s previous litigations have involved various technologies, consumer products, software, cable television and network hardware, medical devices, and fastener technologies. Ms. Fish’s experience includes drafting motions, taking and defending depositions, arguing motions hearings, preparing witnesses for trial, and managing daily litigation tasks.

Karan Jhurani is an Associate in Fish & Richardson’s Atlanta Office. His practice emphasizes complex patent litigation, patent prosecution and counseling, and post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).

Karan’s litigation practice focuses on representing clients in actions filed in federal district courts across the country and at the International Trade Commission. He has substantial experience in all major aspects of litigation, including pre-suit diligence, managing discovery, deposing fact and expert witnesses, conducting cross-examination of witnesses at trial, and pre-trial and post-trial briefing. In his litigation practice, Karan has experience working with various technologies, such as microlithography and optics, portable device power management, object-relational mapping technology, microprocessor design and operation, digital image processing technology, cellular communication standards, audio and video decoding technologies, and consumer electronics (e.g., televisions, mobile phones, tablets).

Karan also has significant experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications, with many of these applications being directed to technologies that utilize Internet of Things (IoT), software-as-a-service (SAAS), financial technologies, machine learning, artificial intelligence, big data, business intelligence and advanced analytics, relational databases, e-Commerce solutions, mobile security, mobile applications, manufacturing plant operational management, and many more. In addition, Karan has assisted clients with IP portfolio assessment and IP due diligence (offensive and defensive).

Dr. Gerald M. Goldhaber is the nation’s leading safety warnings, communications expert for over the past 39 years. He has designed warning for dozens of consumer and industrial products including Playtex Tampons, Otis Elevators, Rheem Water Heaters and many more. He is the author of 10 books, which his 11th book will be published in 2018. Dr. Goldhaber has been the subject of dozens of interviews by leading networks and newspapers/magazines (Fortune, Forbes, Time, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, New York Times, Boston Globe, Wall Street Journal, etc.) He is the publish of the monthly Goldhaber Warnings Report which is now in its 8th year reaching over 10,000 lawyers nationally. He is also the instructor of the official digital course of warnings and safety communications for the National Association of Continuing Legal Education (NACLE). Dr. Goldhaber has testified and/or consulted for lawyers representing corporations or injured parties in over 1,000 lawsuits since 1978 and is currently CNN’s and CNN.com chief commentator/analyst for issues dealing with warnings and/or safety communications.
